Goals

ISOSS Goals and Objectives:

1. The organization shall engage in research, dissemination of information, and action aimed at improving the conditions of disabled people.

2. The organization shall act:

  • To create links among disabled individuals and groups sympathetic to them within their various communities in Ghana and internationally.
  • To increase disabled individuals' knowledge about their common and diverse situations.
  • To strengthen their struggles and to create a means of supporting them nationally and internationally.
  • To rehabilitate its disabled members back into their communities.
  • To promote the study of the conditions of disabled people in Ghana with the goal of combating discriminatory practices in the family, workplace and community.
  • To defend the rights of disabled people under the Ghanaian Constitution and the United Nations Human Rights Convention.
  • To fight against the harassment of disabled people in the family and elsewhere.
  • To provide a forum in order for disabled people to express themselves.
  • To form links and work with other groups and organizations sympathetic to their cause.
  • To fight for social justice.

3. These Goals and Objectives are Fulfilled Through:

  • Building a network of information and solidarity.
  • Disseminating information via newsletter and the internet.
  • Facilitating interaction and contact between disabled people in Ghana and other communities.
